Waist Hip Ratio Calculator

The waist-hip ratio, namely waist circumference (WC) divided by hip circumference (HC), has been referred to as a predictor either of health conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, or of amounts of visceral and subcutaneous abdominal fat. According to Research on Indian Adults, Waist Hip Ratio  values of 0.88 in men and 0.81 in women is set as cut off points, where anything higher than this ratio indicates an increased risk of various health complications.

Health Risk in Women

  • If you are a women, you are at low risk if the Waist to Hip Ratio(WHR) is 0.81 or lower. 

  • If your WHR is more than 0.81 you are at  risk of many medical conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, gall bladder disease, menstrual irregularity, and fertility problems 

Health Risk in Men

  • If you are a man, you are at low risk if the Waist to Hip Ratio(WHR) is 0.88 or lower. 

  • If your WHR is more than 0.88 you are at  risk of conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and other chronic conditions. 

  • In both men and women, a WHR of 1.0 or higher increases the risk of heart disease
